Okay, I know the number of wands I’ve reviewed in the last few weeks is bordering on ridiculous, but I can’t help myself. If you were to tell me I was going to be trapped on a deserted island for the rest of my life and I could only take one sex toy, I would choose Chris Pratt. But then after you explained to me that Chris Pratt isn’t a sex toy and I’m guilty of objectification, my second choice would be a vibrating wand of some sorts. If you were to ask me to nail down the exact name and brand of the wand I would take with me, that would be hard… I’ve come to love so many.
And this new Bodywand WandPlus G Spot 8 is no exception, I kind of love it. But I’m not sure if it’s deserted-island-for-the-rest-of-my-life love it. It is a major step up from the last Bodywand brand vibrating wand I used, that thing should be left on a deserted island of its own, in some kind of Lord of the Flies scenario, where other sex toys beat up on it. Yeah… Lord of the Vibes. *shudder*
Anyway, this new Bodywand comes to me all the way from Australia. So, now I know exactly two things about Australia, it has kangaroos and sex toys. Sounds like a cool place. Oh, and Drop Bears. I hear it has Drop Bears… Now, coming from Australia caused one little hiccup with my brand new wand… the power supply was not a U.S. compatible wall charger. I kind of feel like a dope for not being more specific with JouJou before they sent it, but it’s no big deal, I was able to find an AU to US adapter super cheap on Amazon. It just meant that I had to wait a few extra days before I could test the Bodywand out. Another slightly disconcerting thing about the wand was that upon arrival, it was coated in some kind of gross, flakey, stuff. Kind of like dried up lube or vagina gunk. I’m not sure what is up with that, I’m hoping that it was just coated in something that did not handle transit through the cold Minnesota winter and froze and got weird… really hoping that someone at the post office didn’t pop it open and have some fun before sending it on its way. Needless to say, I sanitized the hell out of this toy. Which was a bit time consuming, as the toy itself isn’t waterproof, so it all had to be done carefully. But at this point, it is probably the cleanest toy in my collection right now.
The Bodywand WandPlus G Spot 8 massager starts off looking like your average wand vibe, the handle is your basic tapered wand handle and is made from white ABS plastic with a purple silicone insert (which serves as a textured grip) around the scroll wheel that controls the whole shebang. But after that, things start to get a little funky. Instead of capping off in a rounded wand head, there is an insertable silicone shaft with a bulbous head shaped perfectly for G-spot stimulation. So we’ve got an insertable toy with the power of a vibrating wand? Hell yeah, sign me up!
The Bodywand is pretty easy to operated, the scroll wheel is pretty self explanatory. Roll the wheel down and the Bodywand will roar to life, keep rolling down and you will increase the intensity level, then when you are finished roll the wheel back up until it clicks off. So easy a masturbating monkey could do it! When I first played with my Bodywand WandPlus I didn’t realize there was a whole other secret button on the backside of the toy, if you flip the Bodywand over there is a button with a wavy line that controls the WandPlus’ various vibration patterns. In total there are eight functions, including the constant vibration setting. Normally I completely ignore pattern settings on a vibrator, more often than not I find them an annoyance more than I do pleasurable, but I don’t completely hate the settings programmed into the Bodywand WandPlus. I particularly enjoyed “thrum” and “high intensity.” I always feel like I should give a toy bonus points when they come with patterns/rhythms that don’t suck.
The Bodywand WandPlus G Spot 8 massager has a unique, and seemingly useless safety feature where the toy will shut off after 30 minutes, in case the user has “forgotten” to turn off the massager. Okay, how do you forget to turn this thing off? I suppose maybe if I was super drunk or there was an ice-cream truck rolling down the street outside and I really needed a fudge bar I could see accidentally leaving the Bodywand running. But here’s the thing, this toy is loud. Like, I leave it turned on in my bedroom and I can still hear it in my kitchen. Granted, my house isn’t super huge, so like, if you are Bruce Wayne reading this, if you leave it turned on in the Bat Cave, you might not notice it once you’ve gone back up to Wayne Manor. Still, the whole thing seems silly to me… you probably aren’t going to forget to turn this toy off. Still, I suppose having a safeguard against overheating is nice. Although I’m not sure I like the idea that my wand is going to overheat.
There is definitely some power behind this wand, although it was a lot buzzier than I was expecting. I was really hoping for something with a deep, rumbling vibration, but I’m not entirely dissatisfied with what the WandPlus has to offer. Externally, I have no problems reaching orgasm while using the Bodywand against my clit. It is nearly on par with my Hitachi (nearly). In fact the wand’s G-spotting head sits so perfectly on my clit that I find myself using this more as an external vibe than an internal one. Internally the wand has no problems reaching my G-Spot, the shape is perfect for this, but because it lacks the deep, rumbling I need, it doesn’t quite get me there, orgasm-wise. It is pleasurable enough, no complaints there, the chunky girth of the toy and the bulbous head that gives that delicious popping feeling as the wand is thrust in and out are great. I just wish it had a bit more oomph to it while being used internally. To me, the vibrations kind of feel muffled on internal use.
The cord is nice and long, you get a generous eight feet of cord, which is awesome. I have a tall bed and have had some issues with corded toys not quite reaching and having to lay really awkwardly against the very edge of the bed, or do my masturbating on the floor. So, if you are going to make a toy that requires wall power, make the cord extra long! Clearly, Bodywand got that memo. Bravo!
There is a kind of questionable warning on the box that kind of throws me, even though this toy is labeled as being a G-Spot vibe, it warns you that this toy is for external use only. Last time I checked, my G-spot was nestled all snug up in my lady cave…. unless I’ve been doing it wrong? Do you all have external G-spots I don’t know about? Is this like Kindergarten all over again, when I discovered that not everyone could move their toes independently and everyone called me monkey girl? That is, at least up until one of our other classmates peed his pants… then he was Pee-pee-Paulie and I was forgotten about. But for real, why is this labeled as being for external use only? Did Bodywand not go through the trouble of making sure it was safe to use internally and we are all just going about this at our own risk? Will it start my vagina on fire? What gives?! That disclaimer has me paranoid and envisioning all kinds of worst case scenarios.
Over all though, the Bodywand WandPlus G Spot 8 vibe is a solid toy, it is also very different from most wands currently on the market. I love the idea of having an insertable wand, I love power – this really seems like the most logical step for me, internal wands! So even though it was buzzier than expected, I still highly recommend this toy, because it does offer something a little bit different. If there is ever a generation two of this wand with a rumblier motor, then this becomes my deserted island wand, no doubt. Even if penitration isn’t your thing, I totally still recommend this for use as an external vibe – in fact, I may recommend it more for that than anything else!
