Whew! We did it, we made it through 2016! Congratulations to us! Time to break out the cake and confetti!
I know a lot of us are feeling a little bruised and battered, some of us are left wondering where the heck the year went, but I hope we all have good memories to take with us into 2017.
If I’m honest, 2016 is a bit of a blur for me, I still have an entirely blank page in my notebook that says “2016 Goals” that I started on the last day of 2015. The year FLEW by! My notebook now looks a little something like this “2016 2017 Goals” and this time, I’m going to fill it out! Even if all I write is “masturbate more.”
I’ve got to say, 2016 was a slightly more productive year for me in terms of blogging, I managed 30 sex toy reviews compared to 2015’s 26 sex toy reviews. So KittenBoheme.com is growing! I hope that 2017 sees me doubling the number of reviews I am able to post!
Expect some big changes to KittenBoheme.com as we slide into the New Year, I’ve got some big things planned! So stay tuned for that.
Now, on to my 2016 wrap up!
I should note that my lists for 2016 is based off of products I have reviewed this year – it does not necessarily reflect when the product was released (although several on this list are new to 2106!). Also, these are ranked in no particular order.
Toys I Loved in 2016
1. The Number One Labs B.J. – Holy cow, this thing was cool! This toy found me completely out of the blue, I had never heard of it or seen anything like it before and I was a little hesitant to accept the product for review at first. Man, I am SO glad I said yes. This toy is a total game changer when it comes to oral sex. Loved it!
2. Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl Rabbit Vibe – 2016 saw me reviewing several products in the official Fifty Shades of Grey toy line and the Greedy Girl is the stand out of the collection. I’m not normally a rabbit fan, it is hard for me to find one that works for me, I was blown away when the Greedy Girl worked. Not only did it work, but it worked AMAZINGLY! Two strong motors and a large clitoral arm has made the Greedy Girl not only my favorite rabbit of 2016, but just my favorite rabbit period.
3. We-Vibe Tango – I feel like this one shouldn’t be much of a surprise. The Tango is one of the mightiest bullet vibes I’ve used to date, I love this toy. It also seems like almost everyone who has reviewed the Tango loves it, it’s just one of those toys that got things right. The Tango has been especially useful when it comes to replacing shitty bullets that come with dildos! My Tango lives the life of a nomad, moving from dildo to dildo, bringing sexy vibrations wherever it goes.
4. Emojibator Eggplant – Okay, so I can’t think of a toy that could better represent 2016 than one modeled after an Emoji. While I found the actual vibrations of this toy lackluster, I just love the quirkiness of it. It is adorable in a stupidly hipster sort of way. A pictograph penis is always a conversation starter – lets hope 2017 sees the birth of the peach masturbation sleeve…
5. Split Peaches Unicorn Horn – This dildo holds a special spot in my heart. Born out of my unicorn tweet storm, Split Peaches happily indulged in my fantasy of a Unicorn I could “ride.” The Horn I was sent for review was designed to my exact size specifications, making it the most perfect dildo for my vagina. The quality is also superb, I look forward to reviewing more from Split Peaches in the future!Biggest Disappointments 2016
Not every toy I tried this year has been a winner. Bummer.
1. Tantus Rumble – I think the Rumble is one of my top disappointments of 2016. I wanted to fall instantly in love with this toy, I wanted to run off into the sunset and spend my days masturbating on warm beaches with this toy. Sadly, it didn’t happen. Even with its beautifully ergonomic, lightweight body and silicone head, the Rumble left me wanting more. Its name implied deep, powerful, rumbly vibrations – which it does not have. Still, its the perfect toy for anyone who likes moderate vibrations and broad stimulation. That just isn’t me.
2. Bodywand Mini Massager – A TPE head and painfully buzzy vibrations make the Bodywand Mini another big disappointment of 2016. While I didn’t expect much out of this toy, I thought it would be better than it turned out. Boo.
3. Fifty Shades of Grey A Perfect O Cock Ring – The Fifty Shades pleasure collection has managed to give me both one of the best and worst toys of 2016. Okay, maybe ‘worst’ is a strong word, but I do wished this cock ring worked better. Its rounded shape causes it to roll up the shaft of the Penis, all the shifting and rolling this ring does caused quite a lot of pubic hair pulling, not a lot of fun if thats not what you are going for!
Favorite Sex Toy Shops of 2016
These shops have been very helpful to me and a great joy to work with this year, they deserve a shout out!
1. Smitten Kitten – My hometown store! I love the Smitten Kitten, the staff are super friendly and very knowledgable! More than once I’ve called the store with a question about lube, they are the lube experts!
2. Tantus – Makers of some of the finest silicone toys and a great supporter of sex toy bloggers! I love this company, I love them to pieces. This year I got Christmas cards from two people, my Dentist, who also included a note about how I was overdue for a cleaning and Tantus who sent me a Christmas featuring dildos… I will cherish that card forever.
