I’m on a MEO kick here! Another product has winged its way from Germany and onto my door step! Three cheers for international shipping!
HUZZAH!
I am now the proud owner of a pair of black leather wrist and ankle restraints. Look out world, things just got a little bit kinkier in Kitten-land!
Okay, so at first glance the wrist and ankle cuffs are virtually identical to each other. I’ll be honest, at first I thought I was just sent two pairs of wrist cuffs in two different sizes. Oh how wrong I was! Although… I don’t think anyone is going to shame you for using ankle cuffs on your wrists or vice-versa. The ankle cuffs are about 13 inches long and the wrist cuffs come in at about 11 inches in length. Both are equal width, about 3 inches.
Thus far I’ve only reviewed one other leather bondage restraint item – the Aslan Collar. The quality of that collar is amazing, so these MEO Berlin restraints really have a tough act to follow. But so far they are holding their own, I’m not disappointed in them yet.
Like my Aslan Collar, they are also quite generously padded. During wear, nothing was digging into any skin, there was no chafing, or any uncomfortable pinching, even when tightened hard (although, being tightened down to its sixth and last slot there was still a generous amount of space left between skin and wrist cuff). So, you can feasibly restrain a fairly big guy!
One thing I really like about the Berlin Leather restraints is they are incredibly masculine. The black leather, silver colored D rings, silver colored lockable buckles, all of it oozes a feeling of masculinity. Which made it really fun to cuff my normally dominant Stunt-Cock. Manly and submissive all at the same time, what a turn on! Each cuff offers a fair amount of adjustability and versatility, with six holes (although on the wrist cuffs we found that only four of them were really functional), three D rings, and a lockable buckle. The D rings make it possible to attach ropes or chains to the cuffs, and you can lock each cuff separately, or pull them together and lock them to each other. Pretty basic key locks are included with your cuff purchase, and comes with two keys. Whats really nice is the keys are universal to the product, so should you lose the keys to one set of locks, you can just borrow the key from your other piece. Yay! (This is really good news for me, I am really prone to losing things…) We didn’t really test out the strength of the locks, they seem pretty small, I’m not sure how much force they can really hold up against. So, if you are really looking to struggle and play rough, you might want to invest in some different locks. (This is just speculative, because we didn’t put a lot of force on our locks, I was scared they would break).
The cuffs remained fairly loose on a medium-ish sized (about 7.5 inches) masculine wrist, so I’m going to guess on any ladies with delicate wrists you are going to find the Berlin Leather cuffs to be quite loose (not always a bad thing!). So if you are expecting a hard lock-down, you may want to investigate other options. If you are happy with the feeling of being comfortably cuffed without being actually tightly retrained, these would be perfectly fine for anyone with smaller wrists.
Because these are leather, you can clean and care for them like you would any other quality leather item. Just remember, leather will absorb water, so try to use as little of it as possible when cleaning any of your leather cuffs or collars. Also, basic hand or dish soaps can damage dyed leather as well as dry it out, causing your cuffs to crack or fray. You can also possibly stain the leather with the oils in some lubricants and soaps. So, the best way to preserve the quality of your leather cuffs is to clean it with soaps specifically made for cleaning leather, such as saddle soap or specialty leather wipes. Once cleaned, just pat the collar dry with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture. Keep in mind that leather is a porous material, which means it cannot be totally sanitized, no matter how hard you clean it, you probably wont get into every little open nook and cranny of the material. But, since you aren’t using these internally, it’s not as gross as a porous insertable sex toy.
When your cuffs first arrive, brand new, out of the box, you’ll find that they will be pretty stiff and straight and will take a little bit of use to soften them up. But, over time and with heavy use you may start to find that it is necessary to use a leather conditioner on your cuffs to keep the leather from wearing out or cracking. This is not something unique to the Berlin Leather Cuffs, but something in common with pretty much any leather piece you can buy.
So, do I recommend the MEO Berlin Leather Wrist and Ankle Cuffs? Yes! And because of the size range, I especially recommend these if you are aiming at restraining a man. These are quality leather cuffs, definitely some Domme/Dom stuff worth having in any Mistresses/Masters bag of tricks! Or Pro gear for anyone’s dungeon! Obviously, these are made of real leather and therefore NOT vegan. So, if that is important to you, steer clear of these particular restraints.
