Callie Vibrating Wand by Jopen Packaging I picked up quite the collection of treasures while attending the 2018 ANExpo. One of those said treasures was the Callie Vibrating Wand by Jopen. I picked up the Callie while at a Sex Toy Manufacturers Press Event… it was pretty cool, I had a media badge and everything… I got to eat free food (did I eat all of the free cookies? Maybe… maybe not… you’ll never know… I did), drink free drinks (I lived off of free cookies and alcohol for an entire week… healthy life choice?), and look at all the latest and greatest sex toys companies had to offer… I had a great time. I also came home with a bag full of goodies (I’m still shocked when a company rep says they are aware of my blog and want to give me things… I’m pretty sure I turn bright red and become all tongue-tied and say really dumb and awkward things). When the CalExotics rep was showing off the Callie (which she said was one of Jopen line’s best sellers) I got really fixated on the fact that she kept calling it a wand. It looks nothing like what I normally think a wand should look like. To me a vibrating wand has some kind of handle and a bulbous head of some sort…. like the Doxy or the Hitachi or Wonder ‘O’ Wand… I don’t like when someone tries to reinvent the wheel… I mean wand. The traditional wand shape works, I like it, it’s familiar… and it seems more often than not when someone tries to sell me on something being a wand (that I think is definitely not a wand) it is a disappointment (for me a wand needs to have enough power, enough serious rumble to be used on my clit and brings me to orgasmic bliss). So while this company rep went on and on about the Callie and the other Jopen toys she had on hand… I just stood there looking like a deer caught in headlights… with every repetition of the word wand I become more and more convinced I would hate it… I felt like she was assaulting everything I know and love about vibrating wands. To me, the Jopen Callie looks like an insertable, not a wand… don’t try to convince me otherwise!

Okay, now that you know how I felt about the Callie… I want you to take all of that and just throw it out. None of what I said proved to be true. Some how Jopen managed to take this insertable vibrator, call it a wand and it was amazing enough that I’m convinced. I’ll believe anything they say about this wand… if Jopen wants to tell me that it will align my chi and feng shui my organs… I’ll believe it… this thing rocked my frickin’ world. Even though the Callie is apparently designed to function as a “wand” I’m all about using it as an insertable. Holy hot damn… it was pure bliss. When I first used the Callie I used it internally while I used the Zumio on my clit… It was so amazing I didn’t think I could physically handle it!

But, now that I’ve gushed about how much I love it internally… I want to point out that even though I really enjoyed inserting it and going to town… when I look at the design a bit closer I have to admit, it really does seem to be designed more with external rather than internal use in mind (which is I guess why it is called a “wand”). First impressions, it looks much like any other internal vibrator, it has a long shaft, a tapered tip, a kind of chubbier middle section… which more or less describes half the insertable vibrators in my collection. But if we go ahead and look closer you’ll notice that the shaft of the Callie has kind of a broader, flattened oval-esque shape (my Stunt Cock compared it to a corn dog that someone started to sit on but realized their mistake before it was completely smushed… which really just raised the question of “Have you accidentally sat on a corn dog? How do you know what that looks like?)… which makes the toy feel pretty girthy when inserted (which is a lot of what I love about using it internally). The shape is great for external use, the flat shaft doesn’t roll around unnecessarily and is perfect for laying across my vulva  and sending a wave of broad vibration across my clit and its surrounding area in a very wand like fashion (and occasionally me laying on top of it… because I like to change things up sometimes… and the Callie works surprisingly well as a hump toy…). The tapered tip of the Callie also means that you can change the angle of the toy and direct a more pin-point style of stimulation directly where you need it (which for me is just next to my clit). Size-wise the Callie has a total length of 8 inches with about 6 of those inches being insertable length and a diameter of 1.5 inches.

I tried to get my Stunt Cock to use the Callie so I could get a penis perspective, but he was entirely uncooperative. So if you do have a penis and you do try out the Callie Vibrating Wand please let me know how you like it in the comments below! I’m curious! I feel like the deep rumbly vibrations would be just as awesome for a penis as it is for my clit! Like I feel like this toy has an ideal shape for resting the flatter side of it up against the length of the shaft. If I ever catch Stunt Cock in the right mood and get him to try it out, I’ll report back.

Callie Vibrating Wand by Jopen Gemstone Button One thing that really struck me about the Callie (and the rest of the toys in this line) is just how drop dead gorgeous they are. I am absolutely in love with the bright white shaft and the shiny gold base. To me it just screams “I AM SUPER LUXURIOUS AND ALSO WAAAAY MODERN!” The faux gem button however… that pushes it a bit for me… I could do without that… it gives me too many Womanizer W100 flashbacks… Faux gemstones look cute on the base of butt plugs… I’m less impressed with them on my vibrators, it just cheapens the aesthetics (now, if it was a real diamond… I would be of a whole other opinion…).  The gem is actually not all that bad (I overreact sometimes)… it blends in with the Callie pretty well (unlike the tacky Womanizer W100) but I would be just as happy if it wasn’t there. The shaft of the toy is covered with a seamless silicone with a delightfully satiny finish (my fingers appreciate this toy muchly, I like to pet it and stroke it and it makes me ever so happy). Although that beautiful satin finish does mean the Callie has a fair amount drag to it, but that isn’t anything a bit of lube can’t fix (also, this thing can double as a lint roller… it will grab every stray hair, lint fuzzy, dog fur… you name it… it sticks to the Callie).

Operating the Callie Vibrating Wand is super simple. To turn it on just press and hold the gemstone button at the bottom of the toy, repeat this when you want to turn the Callie off. The Callie comes programed with seven settings, which you can cycle through by again pressing that silly little gemstone button on the bottom. Pretty easy, but if you forget how to use it… you can always just book mark this review come back to re-read it. Now, the single button operating system might seem handy… “One button, we can all manage that!” but don’t go getting all excited about that yet… because having only a single, solitary button also means we have to click through each and every freakin’ pattern every time we want to back up to a previous pattern we may have clicked off of. That means if I was enjoying pattern number 3 but then accidently hit the button and changed it to 4 I have to click through 5, 6, 7, 1, and 2 before arriving back at 3. Another option is to just say “fuck this shit” and turn the toy off and then back on again, reseting it all back to 1 and allowing you to click from there. While not the worst thing in the world… it can be slightly annoying in the mildest of ways. Also, this reminds me of something else that disappointed me about the Callie. So, you know those 7 settings we just breezed through? Well… only one of those settings is a continuous, steady vibration! Yep, that means the other sex are alllllll patterns. Which I suppose is great if you are a pattern person who is all about those vibrating patterns… but that person is not me. That person will never be me. Me, I’m seriously cheesed off by this. I would have really rather seen at least three of those settings be continuous vibration settings, ramping up from a lower end to a higher speed. But I suppose at least the one setting we do get is a pretty great one. The Callie does pack a surprising punch (especially for something with only one intensity level) and the depth and quality of the vibrations really are outstanding. I am as surprised to say it as you probably are to hear it… but even though this toy is 85% patterns… I still really, really like it… nay, I would say I love this toy. I would compare its strength to maybe the mid-level settings on say my Doxy wand… its reasonably strong and its deliciously rumbly, but it just isn’t knock-my-socks-off-holy-cow-strong. And if I’m honest… the patterns aren’t the absolute worst set of patterns I’ve experienced. I’m more… neutral when it comes to these, I don’t hate them, I’ll use them, but I’m not exactly excited about them either.

Callie Vibrating Wand by Jopen Charging Port and USB Cable The Callie is rechargeable and comes with a USB charging cable (as is the case with most rechargeable toys these days). I got about an hour and a half worth of playtime with the Callie after what amounted to a roughly tow hour charge time (I say roughly because I forgot to set any kind of timer but I do know I watched four episodes of ‘Stan Against Evil’ while waiting for the indicator light to alert me that it was fully charged – the light goes from red to green once it has finished charging). I had a moment of dumb when I went to charge up the Callie, I turned the toy over and over in my hands trying to locate the charging port. Like for real, I was getting suuuuper annoyed that I couldn’t figure it out… then it dawned on me… I bet the base twists off. So, I gave the base of the toy a quick turn and wouldn’t you know it… the thing twisted right off. So, if you have reached this Callie Vibrating Wand by Jopen review because you googled “how to charge the Callie” let me answer your question right now… to charge your toy simply twist off the vibrators base to reveal the charging port. Then it is just a matter of plugging the small end into the base and the USB end into either your computer or wall adaptor and you are good to go.

Another brief, but useful fact about the Callie is that it is waterproof! So go ahead and take the Callie in the shower with you and have some squeaky clean fun! Or if not that, at least rest easy knowing that you can wash your Callie with ease. Oh, also, while we are talking about brief but useful facts… you should also know that the Callie Vibrating Wand  comes with a one year warranty, so that is also pretty cool!

Okay, so if you were in the market to buy a wand… like a true vibrating wand (or what I think of as a “true” wand… and maybe I need to expand my mind and broaden my definition of what a wand really is)… I would probably steer you away from the Callie. As much as I did enjoy this toy, it doesn’t fit my description of a wand at all… If you are trying to find a vibrating wand I’m guessing you are looking for something more like the Doxy, this Shibari Wand, or maybe even my recent favorite the Wonder “O” Wand…  heck… even the weirdly oscillating Queen Bee is more of a wand in my mind than the Callie is. I worry that if you are shopping with “wand” in mind you might be disappointed by the Callie… because its not that traditional wand. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a reasonably strong and rumbly external vibrator (that can double as an internal toy should you so desire) I would most definitely recommend the Callie Vibrating Wand! But… on the other hand, if you are looking for a toy with variety, with varying intensity levels that you can play around with… you’re out of luck with the Callie… it has that one note intensity which is really a bummer (or, conversely… if this one intensity level is the exact level you are looking for than the Callie may be your one hit wonder).  I really enjoyed the Callie Vibrating Wand and I honestly am really excited to get my hands on the rest of the toys in Jopen’s Callie line, especially the mini wand!
