I feel like it has been ages upon ages since I’ve had the chance to review a vibrating wand. Okay, no… I lied, I guess I literally just reviewed the Blush Novelties Nojie W3… but really does feel like a life time ago (It’s at least a half dozen years ago in sex blogger years…). I really have a very tenuous grasp on time during any major holidays (happy belated Easter by the way), so I have no idea how many hours… days… weeks… millennia have past since my last review. To be fair, the Nojie was just a little slip of a thing… (I’m not saying it’s easy to forget, because it is a nice wand… it’s just getting a bit eclipsed by something much larger than it is…) the Wonder ‘O’ Wand has a bit more meat too it… it looks a little bit more like the heavy duty wands I’ve grown to love. And love it I did. More or less.
So, last night while watching season two of A Series of Unfortunate Events I got super horny (yeah… I don’t know why either… maybe its something about Neil Patrick Harris?) but my normal sex partner was unavailable because he was way too engrossed in some computer coding (yep… he picked code over pussy…) so I decided to dig through my drawers (yes, drawers… plural… my life is getting way too out of hand…) of sex toys that still needed testing and I pulled out the Wonder ‘O’ Wand from Castle Megastore… I really had no idea what to expect from this toy, I had never heard of it before, I couldn’t find anyone saying much about it online… this thing was a complete and total mystery to me! My genitals and I were heading off into uncharted territory! But it’s a vibrating wand… so how bad could it really be?
You’re expecting me to now say that it was terrible… aren’t you? Well you would be wrong! Although… it’s not exactly the most amazing thing either. There are definitely some things that I really LOVE about the Wonder ‘O’ Wand and some things that make me go “meh.”
Okay, first the things that I love… the entire body of this wand is pretty much perfect. For starters, it has the perfect weight (for me at least), it is hefty without feeling overwhelming, it did not fatigue my bad wrist (I broke it when I was a kid… I slipped and fell in our kitchen and broke my wrist so bad that bone came through the skin…it hasn’t been the same since) at all while using it in a longer play session and it had enough weight that the toy had the right amount of pressure pushing down without my having to really add much more myself by smashing the wand into my clit. Next, the silicone head. More and more I am finding wands with silicone heads and I love it… I mean… I really love my Original Magic Wand (aka the Hitachi) but it has that gosh darned porous head… so the Wonder ‘O’ Wand does have that going for it over the Hitachi. Although boy or boy is this silicone head the lintest lint picker that there ever was. I dropped the wand on the ground once and it picked up every strand of hair it could find, dog and human. While annoying… at least a quick rinse solves the problem… and if you are ever having a lint emergency, you’ve got a lint roller in a pinch. But my mostest favoritest thing of all are the indicator lights on the body of the wand. Like… these are so frickin’ revolutionary my jaw hit the floor… WHY THE HELL DOESN’T EVERY WAND HAVE THESE LIGHTS?!
Right, so… these indicator lights are so cool I feel like they deserve a whole paragraph all of their own. I absolutely love having a visual like these lights to show me where I am at in my toys modes. Counting isn’t always reliable, especially if there is such subtle differences between one vibration intensity to the next, but with these lights… I know exactly what setting I’m on! And because they are little blue lights, I can even use it in the dark and still know what’s up! Such a simple feature… but man, it made this wand go from “well, it’s a nice wand… like all my other nice vibrating wands” to “I SHALL KEEP YOU UNDER MY BED WITH MY OTHER BEST FRIENDS” I would like to see this little indicator light feature show up on more toys in the future.
Operating the Wonder ‘O’ Wand is pretty simple. To turn the wand on, just tap the power button and the toy springs pretty much instantly to life. When you are ready to turn it off again, just give that power button another quick tap and off it goes. Below the power button is a button that looks like a series of lines increasing in size, this button operates the wands intensity levels. There are four total intensities, the first and lowest intensity kind of reminds me of a car that is idling maybe just a little to high… it feels like it wants to go and kind of jerks and bounces around and a lot of the vibration is in the handle as opposed to being channeled through the head. The next three intensity levels really kick things up, all the vibration moves up into the head and becomes pretty intense… sadly, the vibrations are buzzier than I would have liked… although they do remind an awful lot of the Original Magic Wand, which also has some pretty buzzy vibrations. The last button looks like a squiggly line and that button is operates the Wonder ‘O’ Wands pattern modes. There are four patterns, which all seem to operate at the top end intensity, there is no way of adjusting your intensity level while using a pattern mode.
Now that you know what I love about the Wonder ‘O’ Wand, you are probably wondering just what was I so “meh” about. Well… this one is a biggie… the vibrations themselves. Sure… they aren’t bad… but they don’t really knock my socks off either. They are buzzy… which I’ll admit, there was a time when I really liked that high intensity buzz… but I think I’ve grown and learned a lot more about what I like and I’ve come to adore the more rumbly end of the spectrum. This will come down to personal preference, the vibrations are plenty powerful and I have been able to have many satisfying orgasms with the Wonder ‘O’ Wand… but if I had to pick between this and the Doxy, I would probably end up reaching for the Doxy, because I like that rumble just a little bit more. But thankfully, I don’t have to pick… so both wands are nestled safely under my bed for easy access for quick orgasms.
If you are shopping around looking for a vibrating wand that is powerful and built to last, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Wonder ‘O’ Wand, it is a nice toy. Price-wise though, it about matches the Magic Wand Rechargeable (which this Wonder ‘O’ Wand reminds me a lot of) and is a bit cheaper than the Doxy and Doxy Die Cast Wands. The indicator lights are a neat feature and one that I really can’t stop raving about, so if you like that little extra visual cue to help you cycle through the wands vibration settings, this might be the wand for you.
Would you like to give the Wonder ‘O’ Wand a try? Or are you just looking for a massage wand in general (because they happen to carry a handful of my favorite wands)? Pick one up from Castle Megastore!
The Wonder ‘O’ Wand was provided to me free of charge by Castle Megastore in exchange for my honest review.
