When I first started blogging and reviewing sex toys I avoided Blush Novelties like the plague. It seemed like there was always some kind of drama involving Blush and other bloggers unfolding on Twitter. I heard terrible things about their toys, the reviews I read of toys that did kind of interest me were pretty negative… I was also pretty new to the blogging scene and wanted to avoid any extra trouble at the time, so I just decided to not bother with Blush Novelties and seek out toys with less drama attached.
But lately (with what I’m assuming is the help of the amazing Ducky Doo Little) Blush Novelties has really been turning things around and has inspired me with a bit more confidence in their company and products! Not long ago I reviewed the Blush Mio and loved it! So when Peepshow Toys asked if I wanted to review something from Blush’s latest line of dildos I was actually pretty excited about it. And so the Blush Novelties Avant D4 arrived at my door. The Avant is a line is a set of visually appealing and strikingly colorful silicone dildos (what’s not to love about that?). Like seriously, the colors these toys come in are super awesome… the playful, stripey, rainbow colors are exactly the kind of toy I need right now… something to help chase away the grayness of winter (yes, I know it is technically spring, but if you lived here in Minnesota… you would know there is no such thing as spring, it is winter until we get that one month of summer, than it is fall).
Another thing I noticed right off the bat about the Blush Novelties Avant D4 is just how impressively silky the silicone is. There are some dildos that I call my “petting dildos” because the silicone is just pure delight to my fingers and the Avant D4 is definitely one of those. I like to sit in my swiveling office chair and cradle one of my petting dildos like a cat then turn around all menacingly, like a bond villain, petting my dildo and cackling like a madman (stop looking at me like that, I never claimed I was a normal human being). But for realsies, the Avant D4 silicone is nice, it is a somewhat firm yet soft and flexible toy that is body-safe, phthalate free, and with curves that go on for days. Once actually in use, something else I noticed about the silicone is that it does have a fair amount of drag too it, so it did require a good amount of lube to keep things slick and moving. It is also worth mentioning that since it is made from silicone, it is in your best interest to stick to non-silicone based lubes since silicone lube has the potential to damage your silicone toys (do you think I fit the word “silicone” into that sentence a few more times?).

The Shape of the Blush Novelties Avant D4 is fun, I described it to my Stunt Cock as looking like a pregnant lady. Because the first bump looks like a head, the second bump is a pair of boobs and the third bump is the preggo belly and the base is the feet. But the Avant D4 so far has managed to adhere itself quite readily to my desk, the floor, and the shower wall. The suction cup base has a really satisfying squish and spread as it is pushed down onto a surface… like… I could watch a video loop of it doing its thing and feel like all the stress of the day would just melt away. It’s really a magnificent suction cup as far as suction cups go. The base of the Avant D4 also makes it anal safe (hooray, flared base) and compatible with a harness (hooray, strap on)!
Size-wise, the Avant D4 is no slouch. Size queens (or just those who like a little bit more substance to their dildos) will appreciate the 7 inches of insertable length as well as the 5.5 inches of circumference (at its thickest point) that this dildo boasts. Like I side somewhere above, this toy is a fulfilling beast. Also, with that kind of length, each thrust of this toy hits my g-spot with ease, giving me even more reason to love the Avant D4.

The Avant D4 is currently available in two color choices, the Sexy in Pink, which is made up of pinks and black and is what is featured in this review or Summer Fling which is a combination of purples, orange and pink (it does kind of look like what I imagine a summer sunset to be like). Both colors combos are super fun, even though pinks and purples are nothing new in the world of sex toy coloration… Blush has done it in a fun way, the stripes are awesome.
Okay, so now that we got the boring spec talk out of the way… here is what you are probably really here for… how does the Avant D4 feel in use? Well… in a word… awesome. Typically I am more of a vibrator gal, dildos are rarely the main event for me… they are usually just the sidekick to something else going on. But the Avant D4 was stimulating enough for me to orgasm with all on it’s own (which doesn’t happen often, I usually need the extra help from a vibrator). Those bumps really do wonders for hitting my g-spot and then stimulating it pretty consistently as I thrust the toy in and out. The Avant D4 also worked amazing as a “clutching dildo.” Often times when I am masturbating with a vibrator I still feel the urge to fill my vagina with something, even though I’m not looking for something to thrust in and out… its time like these were I want a big fat dildo to smush up in there and hold on to while I go to town with my vibrator. I really enjoyed tightening myself around those prominent bumps, it felt superb. The suction cup base also made riding the Avant D4 a total treat, I have a lot of suction cup dildos that just can’t stand up to vigorous bouncing and riding and quickly become unstuck… but the Avant D4 held fast and firm, I really am impressed. Warning: tangent inbound… so now that I am really giving the Avant D4 a good look and feel again, my Stunt Cock was right, it doesn’t really look like a preggy belly… it has a little groove down the middle of the hump, so its actually more of a butt shape. So now the D4 looks like a silhouette of a person with a bit of back fat (bra over-hang, you know what I’m talkin’ about) and a rockin’ booty. Or… OR… we stick with the first hump boob theory, but the grooved hump is actually a very large and inviting vagina! … Someone please stop me… this is getting ridiculous.
Moving on. Just… forget about whatever just happened up there. So I think what my overall message here is that Blush Novelties as produced a super bangin’ silicone dildo that has the potential to be enjoyed by all. While being larger, I don’t think it is completely overwhelming. And although I haven’t had the chance to test the Avant D4 out anally, I really feel like the shape of the toy will feel amazing to all the butts (or at least to all the butts that like textured/oddly shaped girthy toys). Then there is the color… I know I’ve already said it… but man do I love the chunky strips of color. It kind of gives the Avant D4 that “hand-made” feel that I usually only get with smaller batch crafters. The price is also just about right, currently the Avant D4 can be had for under $50, which I think makes it a reasonably accessible, high-quality, silicone dildo… which can sometimes be hard to find! So, the Blush Novelties Avant D4 gets the thumbs up from me, I can definitely recommend this dildo!
