Oh man, how have I not reviewed the Doxy Die Cast yet? This toy it literally my go to rapid fire orgasm machine! Like, I have it plugged in next to my bed and in arms reach at all times, anytime I am laying in bed I can roll over, grab my Doxy and be in orgasm heaven in seconds flat! I feel like by not reviewing it yet, I have been keeping a big secret from all you delightful folks! Than again… I think I mention one Doxy wand or another in at least one out of every three reviews… so you have probably figured out how much I love these wands by now.
I have reviewed the original Doxy Wand and to be honest, I was on the fence about it at first. At the time, I was still pretty new to sex toys and I had already become addicted to the high powered whirr and buzz of the Hitachi, so I assumed that was what I wanted. But, as time has gone by and my taste in sex toys has refined and changed I have come to absolutely adore the Doxy Wand, the Hitachi still has a place in my heart (and on my clit) but given a choice between the two, I’ll take the Doxy please! The Doxy Die Cast takes everything that is amazing about the original Doxy Wand and builds upon it… turning it into a toy that is just all kinds of wonderful!
First off, I am super impressed by the custom-made storage case that my Doxy Die Cast arrived in. The case is quite discreet, it is just a gray zippered case… At one point I had my wand in its case sitting in the living room for almost a month and no one said anything about it. Now, either the case is just that discreet or people just expect that everything in my house is a sex toy and politely choose not to mention it. The only identifier on the case is the zipper-pull which is labeled “Doxy.” Opening the zippered case you’ll find the Doxy Die Cast nestled into its custom fit foam bed along with its manual.
Now, wand-wise, the most obvious difference (at least to me) is in the Doxy Die Casts looks (superficial… I know). The Die Cast is a much prettier, more tarted up version of the Doxy wand. Where my original white and gray Doxy looked almost clinical to me (although not nearly as bad as the Hitachi), the Die Cast actually looks like something I’m not embarrassed to leave lying around (when I leave the Hitachi laying about, I’m always afraid someone will see it and think I’m an old lady with back pain and a home shopping network addiction). Where the original wand had a plastic handle, the body of the Die Cast is made from a (beautiful) polished titanium and aluminum. This does make the Doxy Die Cast both heavier (downside?) and shinier (yay!) than the original. The color options of the Die Cast are also far more tantalizing than the original version. My wand (as featured in this review) is a shiny, almost glittery shade of deep purple (which is both on brand and gorgeous). If purple ain’t your thang the Die Cast is also available in other dazzling colors, such as white, black, red, and silver.
Another major difference between the original and the Die Cast is the wand’s head. First off, the Die Cast’s head is made from silicone, this alone (in my eyes) makes the Die Cast leaps and bounds more awesome than the original Doxy. The original Doxy Massage Wand features a cushioned head made from “hypoallergenic medical grade non-porous PVC that is free from latex or undesirable phthalates.” While that sounds great, I remain pretty skeptical that PVC can be non-porous. So, as a precaution I have never shared my Doxy wand with other partners, it has been for my use only (which is a bummer, sometimes I want to share the Doxy love around!). But, with the introduction of the silicone head on the Doxy, sharing has become an option (hello play parties)! Another head upgrade is that it is double-weighted, which is meant to give the Die Cast a much rumblier sensation than its older sibling.
Operating the Doxy Die Cast is identical to the original Doxy, so there is nothing new to learn… which is great, there is nothing worse than when a company moves the buttons around and I keep turning a toy off when I expect to be powering it up higher (yep… I’ve got toys like this). To turn the Doxy Die Cast on (make sure it’s plugged in) and press the power button (the button nearest the wand’s head). Use the (+) to increase the wand’s intensity and the (-) button to back the intensity back down. When you are ready to turn the Doxy off just push and hold the power button again. The Doxy Wands also come with a pulse setting (which I almost never use and discovered one day by accident), to access it just turn the wand off then push and hold the power button for a couple of seconds. The wand will then power up and will accelerate from the lowest setting to the highest setting. When you get sick of that pulse bullshit, you will have to turn the wand off then back on again to return to the Doxy to it’s regularly scheduled programming.
The vibrations of the Doxy Die Cast are awesome. The double-weighted head does seem to make a difference, I can definitely feel more rumble to the Die Casts vibrations. At its lower settings it has a wonderfully rumbly purr and the power that comes through at the higher levels is enough to be felt through my whole pubic region (although it does retain some buzziness as you increase to its higher intensities). I also think the switch to the silicone head did wonders to improve the quality of vibrations (making it feel more powerful), I think with the cushioned head of the original Doxy the vibrations ended up being damped somewhat as they traveled through that plush head. Honestly, the Doxy Die Cast can bring me to a full-blown, toe-curling orgasm in probably 20 seconds or less… it is just that good. There have been many times where I have turned some porn on, settled down to watch it with my Doxy and I’ll have orgasmed multiple times before ever even making it to a sex scene… this wand works wonders for me (and I hope it works wonders for you)!
When cleaning the Doxy, I hope this goes without saying but, because this is an outlet powered toy please do not use it anywhere near water. The Doxy Die Cast is not waterproof and you risk electrocution if it is plugged in near water (electrocution by sex toy sounds like a terrible way to go). This also makes cleaning it a little more difficult and I recommend just wiping it with a damp cloth and a mild soap or with a 10% bleach solution.
The only complaint I have about the Doxy Die Cast is its weight. It is a heavy son of a gun. If I am using it for any extended length of time my wrist starts to get sore (I broke the wrist of my dominant hand really bad as a kid, bone poking through the skin and everything, so heavy toys can become a challenge). The weight of the toy does help sell me on the idea that it is a well built luxury toy… but its also a bit hard to wield at times. But this is honestly my only complaint, and its a pretty minor one at that. Doxy has done just a phenomenal job with this toy that I can’t find a whole lot to nitpick about!
There is a bit of a price jump between the original Doxy and the Doxy Die Cast, but I honestly think its worth it. If you are shopping for your first Doxy and are waffling between the two (while you can’t go wrong with either wands) I say jump right in and go for the Die Cast. The storage container alone makes the price difference worth it, plus you are getting the silicone head, rumblier vibrations and a beautiful shiny color selection to pick from. The Doxy Die Cast really is a worthy successor to the original Doxy crown, the build quality is spectacular and the updates are actually updates that improve the toy (some toys “update” and it feels like they are taking a step back… like with the Fun Factory Laya II for example). With so much power behind it, the Doxy Die Cast may not be the toy for everyone, even at its lowest setting it is still a bit of a beast… so if you are after mild vibrations, this might not be the right fit for you. Also, if you already have the original Doxy and are happy with it and not looking to share it around with other partners, there is no pressing need for you to update to the Die Cast… the vibrations aren’t that different, you will only be missing out on a little more rumble. Overall, I can’t get enough of the Doxy Die Cast, its vibrations feel like true luxury to me… I’m addicted to this wand (and its counter parts, the Doxy Wand and the Doxy Number 3) and I love that it is powerful enough for me to masturbate through my jeans (it has a maximum power of 9,000RPM)! Do you know how amazing it is to be able to give myself a quick “pick me up” orgasm in the middle of the day without having to get undressed? Ugh, you simply haven’t lived until you’ve done that. I highly recommend the Doxy Die Cast. Highly.
If you don’t already own a Doxy Die Cast and you are ready to take the plunge, may I suggest you pick one up from one of my favorite online retailers: Peepshow Toys (use the code KITTEN for 10% off), SheVibe, Lovehoney, and Luvoqa!
P.S. look at this 18K gold version… if anyone has an extra $700 laying around… my birthday is in December…
The Doxy Die Cast wand was provided to me free of charge by Doxy in exchange for my honest review.
