Pretty much anytime someone asks me “hey, where do I find a butt plug that…” or “I’m looking for a dildo thats…” I almost always respond with “have you checked out Tantus?” It’s my sex toy version of Barney’s “have you met Ted?” line. I love Tantus, from their teeny-tinesty butt plug all the way to their biggest dildo… the silicone is amazing, the designs are fun, and the people are cool-beans. It’s safe to say I love everything about Tantus. So it really should come as no surprise that when Peepshow Toys asked if I had any interest in reviewing the new Tantus Vamp Super Soft that my answer was “GIVE IT TO ME! GIVE IT TO ME NOOOOOOW!” Actually… it was probably more of a polite “yes, I’d love to” but in my head I was screaming and my hands were waving in a wild GIMMIE sort of fashion. (At this point, its probably safe to say that I’m pretty excited about anything Peepshow Toys wants to send me… they’ve got all the good stuff.)
If looking at the Vamp Super Soft is giving you a sense of deja vu, don’t worry, you’re not crazy. You may already be familiar with the Vamp dildo, it is currently available in its original ‘single density’ form as well as a vibrating grab bag version. The Vamp is one of a handful of older designs that Tantus has plucked from its catalogue and given it a super soft silicone makeover.
As always, Tantus’ packaging was gender neutral, bright, fun, and super simple. The Vamp arrived in a somewhat thin cardboard box which featured a plastic see-through viewing window in the front and product info on the back. Nothing too snazzy, but I appreciate the somewhat festive look, like there is a party going on in that box and I’m invited! Sadly, Tantus packaging doesn’t really hold up well (at least in my experience) and doesn’t make great reusable storage, the boxes quickly get crushed and bent out of shape and become awkward and bulky to store. Although, not everyone is trying to store a metric butt ton of sex toys like I am… so maybe this isn’t a problem most people have? At any rate, be prepared to find new a better storage solution for your Vamp Super Soft.
When Tantus says ‘super soft’ they are not kidding, this toy is suuuuuper soft, quite flexible and extremely bendy (I can fold it in half until the head of the dildo touches the base of the toy). It doesn’t have the same realistic skin-like squish that a Vixen Vixskin Dildo has but it’s still pretty soft and has a fair amount of squish and give to it. One issue I had with it being so soft and bendy is that insertion became a bit more work than I had anticipated. Because the body of the toy is so soft there isn’t a whole lot of resistance, so instead of pushing its way through, it just folds. This happened both when I tried to insert the vamp vaginally sans lube as well as when I tried using it anally. It was only a minor irritation and really not a huge deal, but it did make it harder to thrust it in and out with wild abandon (especially anally) because if I didn’t hit the opening just right the toy would crumple against my vulva or butthole (this was more of a problem with my butthole). Every time I pulled the Vamp Super Soft out of my butthole and took aim to push it right back into my gaping butthole, I had the same thought running through my head… ” I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home…” because I guess my butthole is like the thermal exhaust port on the Death Star and the Vamp is Luke Skywalker. Shut up, we all have our masturbation fantasies!
Design-wise the Tantus Vamp Super Soft hints at realism although the non-human colors and subtle details really softens the realism, possibly making it more palatable for those who prefer something less life-like. The Vamp features a somewhat pronounced glans, an adorable barely there dimple of a frenulum, a sort of wrinkly skin kind of texture near the top of the shaft and something that I would maybe describe as veins, although it is very subtle. While not hyper-realistic, you can definitely look at it and see that it is a penis. Shape-wise the shaft of the vamp is pretty straight, with only a very slight curve up near the top of the shaft where it meets the head. It possesses almost 7 inches of insertable length and at its widest point (at the tip) it has a diameter of 1.75 inches while the shaft of the toy is slightly smaller measuring in at just 1.7 inches in diameter. While it is on the longish size, I wish it had a bit more girth… it is definitely not size-queen material, but could make a great warm up toy for one!
In use I think I far preferred using the Vamp anally more than I did vaginally. There just isn’t enough girth to it for my vagina’s personal taste and there wasn’t enough of a curve in it to really bump my G-spot without a bit of awkward finagling. I also think it is just too soft for me to enjoy, I couldn’t quite feel any of the detailing in the shaft and the coronal ridge just didn’t pop or grind against my G-spot like I wanted to. I also couldn’t really apply the amount of pressure I needed to make things work without the toy flexing and bending away from where I wanted it. After reading a handful of other blogger’s reviews about the Vamp Super Soft, I’m starting to feel like I am the only one having this problem… so I guess my cavernous vagina and I are special.
But as a butt toy, oh boy… now we’re talking (and yes, the Vamp does feature a flared base so it is totally safe for anal use as well as being suitable for use with a harness)… My butt really ate up this deliciously soft silicone (and the deliciously soft silicone really sucks up the lube, so apply generously and often), every inch of it felt like a little piece of booty heaven. The head of the Vamp, which felt too underwhelming in my vagina was like magic in my butthole, I really enjoyed the way it popped as I pushed it in and there was just enough girth to really feel amazing (I’m not much of a booty size queen, that is all my vagina’s thing)! With a firmer toy anal can sometimes become too much for me, things can begin to feel stabby and uncomfortable. But the Vamps softer silicone really made a difference, it made for a much kinder, gentler anal experience and I am all about that.
I am also a big fan of the colors, the midnight purple is right on brand for me! If you are not a purple person the Vamp Super Soft is also available in a very appealing looking cooper color.
Caring for the Tantus Vamp Super Soft is easier than caring for a Beta Fish. Because it is 100% silicone you can boil it, you can throw it on the top rack of the dishwasher (sans soap), you can use a 10% bleach solution, or you can go with the tried and true sink with warm water method. I have noticed that the matte silicone finish of this toy clings to schmutz like you wouldn’t believe. That last couple of times I picked it up, it had dog hair stuck all up and down the shaft… sure, it’s annoying (that is until you need a makeshift lint roller, then you’re in business) but at least it’s easy to clean.
Do I think you should add the Tantus Vamp Super Soft to your collection immediately? I honestly think everyone should try a Tantus premium silicone dildo at least once in their life, I don’t care if its the Vamp Super Soft or something else… you’ve got to try Tantus! If you are someone who tried the original Vamp and found the silicone to be too firm and/or the toy too daunting, I definitely think this new super soft incarnation takes the edge off of what may have been an unpleasant toy for some and is worth a try! If firm isn’t your thing or if you are new to silicone and are looking for something squishier, something with a more approachable firmness, the Tantus Vamp Super Soft might be just what you are looking for. Visually speaking the Vamp doesn’t have a whole lot of bells and whistles, its texture and design is very simple and subtle, but it is a quality toy. I can totally recommend the Tantus Vamp Super Soft, especially if you are looking for a new butt toy!
